Lava Beds National Monument

I've always wanted to visited the Lava Beds National Monument. I don't know why. It always seemed so attractive hidden up there on the north east portion of maps of California. Plus, little boys love volcanoes. Anyway, it may have taken me a decade or so but I finally made it. It was pretty damn cool. And, wussy lawsuit-happy Americans be damned--the caves are self guided! Total darkness in these small lava bed tub caves...just you and your flashlight...hope you've got a good sense of direction!
