Chocolate Espresso Ice Cream

I created this for Marya. She's a dark chocolate person, I'm a milk chocolate person. This is for her.


Beat until thick:

  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1/2c sugar

In a saucepan, scold

  • 1 1/2c cream

Then add egg mixture, whisking quickly so eggs don't cook. Then cook mixture until thick and custard-like. Remove from heat.

In a double boiler, melt and then add to custard mixture:

  • 1/2lb. dark chocolate
  • 3/8c brewed espresso

Then add:

  • 3/8c Kaluha
  • 1/2c cream
  • 1 t vanilla
  • pinch of salt

Let cool, then follow your ice cream machine directions.
