As usual, we did this as blind as possible. John and I brought four unknowns. Marya poured. Then I mixed them up. Didn't know what anything was until it was all over.
- Breckenridge Bourbon
- Col. E.H. Taylor Single Barrel
- Ezra Brooks 90 Proof from the 90s
- Four Roses LE Single Barrel 2013
- Hancock's Special Reserve
- Old Rip Van Winkle
- Poor Man's Pappy
- Prichard's Double Barreled
- Weller 12
Larceny and Poor Man's Pappy moved on.
Ezra Brooks and ORVW moved on.
Well, we were all over the place on this one. Guess the winner would have to go to ORVW. Personally, I liked the Four Roses LE SB 2013 better, but since I knew what I was tasting wasn't in the previous rounds, I knew I couldn't pick it number one in the last round! Not fair to sneak it in... but it was only a sample so I guess we didn't have enough...
I think the surprise for this round would be the Ezra Brooks from the 90s that John had. Oh, and Poor Man's Pappy isn't too bad. Also, you can't tell from rankings, but most of this stuff is pretty good. Sometimes, it's a toss up to which one is better.
